After a long, uninterrupted float in the pool, I’m ready for summer at last. Unfortunately, today is Labor Day, the traditional farewell to summer.
I live in Florida where the heat hangs on till Halloween. That hasn’t changed. But back in the day I would have packed up the white pants, white sandals and summer purse for the season tonight. No one cares anymore, and that’s all right with me.
That gives me time for one more dip in the pool, a brief time to drift and dream on my floating lounge chair. I’ll savor my last-of-the-season Publix raspberry lemonade today, knowing that Starbucks already has announced the official change of seasons with pumpkin spice latte.
Let’s see how long I can wait for fall.
