Our Reconnection Project

Posted on

This weekend my husband and I stopped talking about getting together with friends in that shadowy weekend-after-whenever time known as “sometime soon.”  We all know that sometime just gets lost in the shuffle behind this week, this month, this year.

On Saturday we called the first person on our Gotta See list and asked her to dinner.  What a lovely Saturday night we had!  It was such fun to treat her. On Sunday night, we checked in with another friend/former relative who has been in and out of the hospital this year.

What a satisfying weekend!  We vowed to reconnect with at least one person a month, to actually spend time together or at least enjoy an old-school telephone call.

Joining a Middle-Aged Flash Mob

Posted on

Back in the day, we kids headed to the mall on Saturday afternoon.  And thanks to Facebook, we’re doing it again this Saturday.

After swapping “If you grew up in Titusville…” memories on FB this week, a bunch of us are converging on Dave’s Hot Dogs, a Titusville institution and one of only two businesses left in the 43-year old Miracle City Mall.   Originally planned for Friday afternoon after work, our flash mob event had to be changed to Saturday.  Seems that the mall closes at 6 p.m. Friday these days!

So steam those buns, cook those dogs and get the blenders whirling, Dave.  We’re gonna party like it’s 1975!
